Seibukan Traditional Martial Arts
Canada
Seibukan Traditional Martial Art of Canada is part of an international martial arts organization based in Japan. The heart of our organization is to learn the spirit of humanity and friendship, by studying Shin (mind), Gi (technique) and Tai (body). Traditional Martial Arts goes beyond learning self-defense, health, and fitness; it is a way to live with courtesy, friendship, and self-improvement.
Seibukan Canada brings together a community of traditional martial arts practitioners to study the way of Budo (a system of martial arts and philosophy). For over 10 years we have worked with our community to achieve our mission through practicing, and studying traditional martial arts. Whether you’re looking for self-defense, fitness, or self-improvement; we have a variety of classes that will help you achieve your goals. We teach:

Sensei Ryusuke Juge, a Japanese native, who has over 35 years of martial arts experience, teaches the classes. Visualizing the capabilities of the student and knowing how to teach and direct them in the right way becomes the most important task a Sensei could have. At Seibukan, we use a detail-oriented teaching method. This is the most efficient way to learn because it focuses on the detail of what you need to know rather than just the - following along method. One’s potential develops much faster by, first, understanding it in your mind; then using your body and applying techniques. This is the essence of Shin (mind), Gi (technique) and Tai (body).
Patience, perseverance, and humility play an important part in learning the essence of Budo. That is why we first teach our students kata (a series of forms/techniques practiced individually). Kata conditions the body and the mind. It requires the student to be patient, disciplined, and focused in order to do techniques accurately. Only when the intricacies of a kata are mastered can a student learn to put power, and then speed into the technique. A common mistake is to learn a technique then trying to use muscle and speed right away. However, this forms bad habits and limits potential; students learning this way will not be able to improve much further.
We offer classes for three separate age groups in order to adjust the focus so that we may maximize the benefits from training.
